Weekend update.

So we just got back from camping and if your asking yourself, didn’t they just go that would be a yes, we are just wild about camping:) Well not wild but it is fun and its a very economical way of getting away for a couple days and Florida happens to have ALOT of nice state parks! This time we went with my Brother and sister in law and my niece Grace. We were fortunate enough to borrow an RV from my sister-in-law’s parents which made the trip alot more convenient and less moldy! Anyway we went to Kissimmee Prairie state park which isn’t the most kid friendly park around because most of the trails offer no shade cause, well its a prairie but the kids are still pretty small and on different nap schedules so we spent most of the time at the campground hanging out which is in my opinion the best part of camping, other then smores!!!!

Here are a couple of shots from our trip.

We put up some swings for the kids which they loved! However they were promptly taken down with the ranger spotted them…oops!

kiss-prar.jpg

So we stuck them in the pool instead!

Here’s a shot of a cool tree we spotted on one of the trails

Here’s a pretty shot of the prairie in the morning (see what I mean about the shade)

One of my favorite bloggers, Kelly’s Korner, listed what songs she would sing from her birth year if she were on AI as was the theme from last night and so I decided to blog my pick from my birth year in case anyone was dying to know!!!!

I was born in 1978 which is when all the songs from GREASE came out and I basically know every word to every song to the point that noone wants to watch it with me because I’m really annoying during the entire movie!!! It would be tough to have to pick which song I would sing but I think it would have to be:

Hopelessly Devoted to You :) (I know cheesy but whatever, I am cheesy)

PS. David Cook and my man Micheal Johns really where definitely the best last night!!! And I am going to predict that Ramiele will be kicked off tonight even though I think it should be Kristy Lee Cook!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

UPDATE: Boy was I way off…they weren’t even in the bottom 3 what is up with that?? That show is rigged!

Long time no blog!

Things have been a bit crazy, school is kicking my butt lately! Anyway just a quick update we had a nice Easter. We went to church at my moms church, which was nice but Jonas wasn’t to keen on their nursery and I ended up in an isolation room with him during service. The pastor actually announced to the whole church that “a little boy named Jonas is having a hard time and really needs his mommy” because silly me didn’t notice that my mommy pager was going off!!!! Oooops!

We took some Easter pics, here are a few, please disregard Jonas’ haircut we had a really bad experience at super cuts and needless to say we will be spending the extra money next time to take him to a kid friendly salon!

easter-fall.jpg

This was too funny he fell down the hill behind grandma’s house and he just laid there with this look on his face for like 2 minutes!!

easter-patty-cake.jpg

Jonas LOVES playing patty cake with his Auntie D:)

easter-with-grandma.jpg

This one’s just hilarious look at that look on his face!!

easter-coconut-cake.jpg

And finally my favorite Easter dessert homemade Coconut Cake!!! For those of you interested here is the recipe, it is a bit of work but totally worth it! Sorry Amy:(

Motherhood

Today started off really good and its not over so it may end well also, however this afternoon was REALLY bad!!!! I came home from a shopping trip with my sister in law and immediately starting putting together a new toy I had got Jonas at Toys R Us (they were having a buy 1 get 1 free sale!) And I went to Jonas’ room to show him his exciting new toy and was, to say the least, horrified by what I saw!! Apparently Jonas had pooped in his diaper and decided to rip it off and throw it across the ROOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sometimes being a mom is just plain DISGUSTING!!!

Baking.

Those of you who know me know that I LIKE to bake so I thought it would be fun to make a list of what I think are essential items for good baking!! Obviously baking can be really complicated and require ALOT of different gadgets but here are just a few that I think are a must!

First and foremost you have to have a Kitchen Aid Mixer or else just forget about it!

baking-supplies-8.jpg

2. Good Vanilla none of that imitation McCormick stuff. It cost more than the grocery store brand but believe me its worth it!

baking-supplies-7.jpg

3. A good spatula!!! Just get one you’ll never use another type again!

baking-supplies-12.jpg

4. A cooling rack. One good tip for baking is to NEVER skip a step in the directions so when it says to transfer to a cooling rack do it!

baking-supplies-18.jpg

5. An ice cream scoop that is spring loaded. This definately is essential, especially for cookies and cupcakes because it helps to make them even which helps avoid burning smaller cookies while baking larger ones perfectly! I suggest getting a mini and regular size scoop. Also in this picture is a flat cookie sheet I have found that these types of sheets make for the best cookies. I will even flip over a cookie sheet with sides and bake on the bottom of it because it seems to make that big of a difference.

baking-supplies-4.jpg

So thats my list anybody have any baking items they can’t live without??

Let it be…

Man I love the Beatles and I really enjoyed tonight’s American Idol. I definitely think Brooke White won tonight!! I even clapped after the performance and I was watching it alone so that proves that it was really good or that I’m pathetic, either way it was a good show tonight!

ps. wasn’t that sad when David forgot the words:(

Guilty pleasures

I know its ridiculous and my husband makes fun of me for it but I have to admit one of my favorite shows is The Hills and the new juicy season starts March 24…I am SO excited. Here is a preview for all of you closet fans out there!!

Spontaneous weekend!!

My husband is starting a new job and he ended up with an unexpected 4 day weekend and it happened to be during my spring break so of course we had to find fun things to do in celebration!!!!! It started off with a trip to Lion Country Safari, neither of us had been and we were in the mood for having animals peck at our windshield, show us their butts and stick out their tongues at us:)

giraffe.jpg

After the RUDE animal safari we decided to go on a last minute camping trip which I don’t recommend because its hard to remember everything you’re gonna need for camping and to gather all the supplies with only 1 days notice but we managed and had a good time:) Here are some of the highlights and lowlights.

sunglasses.jpg

Brian forgot his sunglasses for the trip so he borrowed mine don’t they look great on him:)

jonas.jpg

Jonas LOVED camping he got to play in the dirt all day!!

mold.jpg

Here’s a shot from the inside of our tent and if your wondering…thats MOLD, yes we didn’t check out the old tent before travel and were forced to breath in toxic mold during out stay!

camping-chair.jpg

Jonas chillin’ by the fire.

dinner.jpg

My husband had high hopes for catching our dinner but that didn’t go so well so…Boca Burgers it is!!

great-outdoors.jpg

Gotta love the great outdoors:)

Fun with the scanner

UPDATE: I just realized I am flashing everybody in the family photo…sorry about that:)

I got the desire to scan some of my old photos for safe keeping and some of them were so fun I had to post them!!

I call this one “fold out couch delivery” This photo was taken 2 hours after I was born and yes it is on  a fold out couch. I was born at home and not because my mom couldn’t make it to the hospital in time but because she ACTUALLY chose this method!

fold-out-couch-delivery.jpg

This one is an old family photo….check out my dad’s beard…what is up with that??

family-photo.jpg

Here is one of me at the beach. I pretty much lived at the beach growing up…man I miss those days of not caring about anything but how long mom was going to let us stay:)

beach.jpg

And finally here is the house I grew up in. Looks kinda scary and vacant but when my dad bought it, it was a bakery (“the busy bee bakery”) and he renovated the entire inside but not the outside it still looks like this from the outside to this day!
