2 years already!

Today is Brian and mine’s 2nd anniversary!! We have been married 2 whole years, that is CRAZY!

Happy Anniversary sweetie! You truly are my best friend, an awesome daddy and have been so amazingly supportive through all the times that I “had to study” this past year! I LOVE YOU ♥♥

The List.

My LONG awaited summer break is almost here. I have been in school non-stop since Jan of last year. In December I will be completing my degree and will promptly begin working as a nurse most likely an OB nurse therefore words can not express how excited I am to have this break not only because I have been studying my butt off for what seems like an eternity but also because it will probably be my last ”true” break for a long long time. So I have been putting together a list of things I am planning to do this summer and of course it needed to be on the blog:

1. Spend time with my husband. (I think he is more excited about my summer break than I am)

2. Scan more old photos so I don’t have to worry about them getting ruined or lost.

3. Take Jonas to the zoo and take lots of pictures for the blog:)

4 .  This isn’t an activity that I am doing but my friend Katie’s is having her baby this summer so that will be really exciting!!!

5. Steam clean my carpets (boring I know)

6. Help Dawn with wedding planning. ie. the shower, decorations, dresses etc. etc. etc.

7. Go to the beach as often as possible to get tan for the wedding!

8. Read for pleasure!!! ( I just ordered this beth moore book I’ll let you know how it is:)

9. Go camping in St Augustine with Craig, Carla and miss Grace in the RV:)

10. See Dave Matthews with my husband!

11. Learn more about using my camera.

12. Try and make at least one new dish a week that I haven’t made before!

13. Organize my closets. (again boring but I actually enjoy doing this kind of thing when I have the time)

14. Get Jonas some swim lessons. Hint Hint Auntie D!

15. Watch all the movies I wanted to see but had to study instead.

16. Fly to Michigan for my cousin’s wedding!!

17. And of course head to key west in August for Dawn and Bob’s Wedding Extravaganza!!!

Man I am starting to think I over planned a bit for this summer! Oh well I will let you know how I do. Now I need to get back to studying:)

a different kind of love ♥

I am warning you not to read this post if you have  a weak stomach because its going to be a little gross.

Everyone always tells you that they can’t describe the kind of love you have for your children. They always say its just different than anything else and that you’ll understand when you have your own. Well last night was a perfect example of this! It was about 11:30 and I was almost asleep when I heard a strange sound coming from Jonas’ room. Naturally I went in to check on him. It was pitch black and all I could make out was him standing in the crib coughing with his hands up for me to pick him up. I could sense something was wrong so I picked him up which is when he decided to vomit all over me!! We are talking rancid smelling, curdled vomit all over me!!! (told you it was gross) I wanted to toss him to the ground and jump in the shower immediately but he was crying and shaking and scared of what was happening so there was no way I was going to let him go even though I was in the midst of the most disgusting experience of my life! We eventually got cleaned up and after a few more unpleasant episodes we made it through the night. Anyway the whole experience made me think about how different my love is for this child in comparison to any other relationships I have. I mean if my husband had awoken in the middle of the night and threw up all over me I am pretty sure I would have had a VERY different reaction!!! (still love you though hun:)

This is why I live in Florida….

…because, seriously, sometimes I forget!

Yesterday, Brian got off early (unexpectedly) so he was able to hop in his beach clothes with us and head to the inter-coastal!! It was a beautiful day and Jonas was loving beach time with daddy!! I’m pretty sure he gets sick of playing with me all day!

Baby got back!

Update: Sorry was having some technical difficulties with the video, should be good know.

My friend Lora, she doesn’t have a blog:( sent me this hilarious video awhile ago and I thought I would post it because I really think my sister and Bob should do this for their wedding!

Don’t you agree????

Tax day and milkshakes!!!

Not sure why these two go together but Chick-fil-a is giving out free milkshakes because its tax day!!!!!!!!! Yipee! I already had mine for lunch but I am considering having an after dinner shake as well…tax day is stressful I think it deserves two milkshakes don’t you!!!

ps. I did our taxes like 2 months ago and actually got a nice return but still…its free!

50mm…

This post is for anyone out there that has a good camera (ie. Canon, Nikon SLR, Olympus, etc.) and has no idea what to do with it. I purchased a Nikon D50 about 2 years ago. I have always wanted a nice camera and with Jonas on the way it was the perfect excuse to spend that kind of money. I also think that being the middle child with like 10 childhood photos to speak of has made me committed to having lots of quality pics of Jonas so that when he grows up he won’t be annoyed with his mother like I was. Anyway, back to the camera, so I had this really cool gadget and it took good pictures without me doing anything but nowhere near its potential. Now don’t get me wrong I still have no clue what I’m doing but I have picked up a few tips that have been helpful in my quest to use my camera to at least 1/4 of its potential. Some things I have learned from my friend Katie (thanks girl), some from just reading random stuff on-line but one of the coolest things that has boosted my photos has definitely been the 50mm lens I got for Christmas. I realize that this post is about to become a commercial for Nikon but I don’t care because this thing is awesome and if you are reading this and you are an amateur like me and wondering what lens would be a good one to start out with I would definitely recommend this one especially if you are into taking alot of close ups. As mentioned earlier I basically only use my camera for candid close ups and for pictures of food, etc that I want to blog about so this lens has been so fun for me. The main reason why this type of lens creates such cool images is because it has an amazing ability to focus in on the particular subject or object you want to photograph and blur out the rest. The more technical term is depth of field and if you are interested you can click on the link because its a little too technical for me to explain. Anyway I hope this post doesn’t sound like I am trying to give photography lessons because I am CERTAINLY NOT qualified to do that I just wanted to share with anyone who might be in my position what your camera can do with the right lens, specially since I have so many readers! Ha!  Here are a few examples and actually most of the pics on this blog have been taken with this lens but these are a few that I took and then messed with them a little in photoshop!

Let the wedding planning begin!!!!

This weekend was the beginning of planning for Dawn and Bob’s Wedding extravaganza! We went down to the keys to get started. Actually I went along for the ride to get a nice break and to throw my two cents in (even though it probably wasn’t necessary). Regardless they got alot accomplished and Jonas got to visit with his gramps and Aunt and Uncle! We also went to see Kyla’s (my sister-in-law) show. She has a dance company and Saturday night was the last performance of her first show!!! It was so great and so fun to get to see her perform!! Anyway it was a good weekend and I was going to try and take a bunch of pictures for visual aids of our weekend, I ended of just taking a bunch of Jonas pics…oops! That said, here’s my favorite one:

Not that anyone cares….

Is there really any comparision…come on people!!!

gotta love antioxidants!!

As anyone reading this blog can see i am a big fan of visual aids and this is a picture of my new favorite drink. I went to Costco yesterday and picked up some Pomegranate Juice and mixed it with some Sierra Mist and OH MY GOODNESS IT IS HEAVEN IN A GLASS…seriously you really must try it!!

ps. i don’t recommend buying pomegranate juice from a regular grocery store its like triple the price!
