I cooked one of Brian’s favorites last night…baked ziti. It is so easy and yummy that I wanted to post the recipe for anyone interested. I have been reading The Pioneer Women Cooks alot lately and I love the way she gives a recipe with visual aids so I thought I would try it with this one but don’t get your hopes up I’m not nearly as good as her! (notice I get all my ideas from other bloggers…I’m so original!)
Start by boiling a pound of ziti pasta for about 10 min. The pasta will be al dente which is what you want because it will cook more in the oven later.
Meanwhile brown one package of italian sausage (spicy or mild) casings removed
While those are cooking cut 1 pound of mozarella into 1″ cubes and combine it in a large bowl with a jar of your favorite spaghetti sauce. (If I have it I add about 1 cup more sauce but its not a requirement)
Once the pasta and sausage are done, combine them with the cheese and sauce.
Pour the ingredients into a 9 x 11 dish and sprinkle with an 8oz. package of shredded Italian blend cheese. (you can also add some fresh grated parmesan)
Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes covered with foil then remove foil and bake for another 10 minutes or until cheese is bubbling and delicious looking:)
Serve and enjoy!!!!!

yum! good job on the visual aides.

Hey Kathleen,
I’m so glad I stumbled across your blog. Matt is have a student leadership meeting this Sunday after
church Sunday and someone requested Baked Ziti…I said yea right. However, this looks super easy!
Thanks so much for posting this…I’m going to try your recipe this Saturday! Have a great day and
hug that cutie for me!
Kathleen,
Thanks for the ziti recipe. My daughter has to make it as part of a food festival at school, so these “step by step” photos will be a great help to her. Great Job!
